i'll bet its the threads have pulled out. i bought a kit for that as mine kept coming out. the kit thread inserts were threaded and were put in by turning counterclockwise. i forget where i got them but i think they were talking about it the other day on another thread. i think harley parts at the dealer have some. something like these.... http://www.jpcycles.com/product/212-...SCfRoCkFnw_wcB
or these https://www.ebay.com/p/?iid=35197897...pItem=1&chn=ps
Was just reading about this the other day. Lots of options from JB Weld, to epoxy, the replacing the inserts. This options seems like the legit answer....
I just replace two of mine tonight. I knew two were coming loose. When I pulled the fairing off the one fell out.
here is the part number for harley insert 16585-96. I think I paid a buck fifty a piece at HD.
install is easy. I used the windshield bolt to install. For the middle insert I held the fairing with plyers for support. You will understand when you get to it. When you install the insert. The open end goes in first. Just run it down until it is flush. Hope this helps.
