Wherever they point has been researched by Wards over and over to be in the best place possible for heat relief........

Twin cam heads have a channel that runs across the head and is exposed to air. I think this is where Ward was directing the fans air flow. The cylinder head is where combustion happens and where the heat is. Use a temp gun and you should see a big difference in heat at the bottom of the jug compared to the area where the heads attach to the jugs. The jugs also have deep cooling fins you won’t see on the heads and rocker boxes. The heads are what need cooling help.

I had them on a twin cam for years and can tell you they made a huge difference in cooling, especially oil temps. One of the best benefits was after stopping for gas or a break, the fans had noticeably cooled the engine..
It’s a good concept and he worked on perfecting this before selling them.
