Default Dang shifter problem

Well I opted for the Baker anti overshift pawl. Installed it & got it all back together & still having trouble getting it to down shift. I adjusted the pawl with the cover off so I could insure the distance of the pawl & the dowels on the shift drum & that the eccentric bolt was at 12 o'clock & moving the correct way. But took it for a test ride & was so pissed I parked it. Going to go out & try to adjust it with the cover on & see if that takes care of it. I inspected the shift drum & forks & found nothing wrong with them. Previous thread is hear. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...-shifting.html I also looked at the heel & toe shifters to insure that they are not hitting anything, they are fine. Adjusted the clutch when I reinstalled everything, so I know that is good. Sometimes being a mechanic can be so frustrating. Thanks

the internal shift mechanism can get damaged if air impact tools are used.

if you did, look at that

Is it happening when downsifting into any gear? Did any of the shift forks look bent?

No air tools used, forks did not look bent or worn. Got busy doing yard work yesterday and Fathers day so I did not get to try adjusting the pawl . Will do that after work tonight. Thanks

Another great peace from Baker is the shift drum. Makes finding neutral a alot easier. But I also have there forks but don't think it's needed to shift better, I just bought the whole kit. It's alot easier to ajust paw with primary out of the way.

It is easier, but I am not going to pull the primary back off. It's not that bad as long as the exhaust is cool. I adjusted it back just a touch, didn't seem to make a difference. Letting the exhaust cool down & try it again.
