I bought one off of eBay that had been previously married. There are a few people on eBay that you can send it into and for a nominal fee they bring it back to new status. I had sent mine to a guy in Canada. Cost was like $130. Plugged it into my bike and worked like a brand new one out of the box. I got my used SERT on eBay from like $30. So I had a total of $160 and had a new SERT. If you are interested send me a pm and i can give you the guys eBay username.

There are a couple guys on eBay that jail break tuners. Costs about $110 on your tuner. Seem to work as they have very positive responses. I'm on my phone or I would post links. Maybe tomorrow.
I'd give his buddy a break until I found out if he would refund the money. I bought a bike and the PO had a TTS Mastertune for it. He said it didn't go with the bike, he was going to sell it separately. I told him it wouldn't work on any other bike and he didn't believe me. Later, I got a call from him and he gave me the tuner after he verified that it really wouldn't work on any other bike. Maybe his buddy doesn't know.
