Is this a question or statement? I doubt it's dangerous, I believe (may be wrong) the main symptom of it is hard starts after motor gets warm/hot. I know that's what my 2010 SG did,, also a 96 CID motor.
Annoying, yes. Dangerous, not really. That said, I assume it is something that you are planning on changing in the near future and not planning on just letting it go.

Well, my answer is, no it's not dangerous to ride. It will eventually do damage to your primary drive eventually depending upon how worn out it is. It can be a rather annoying thing like dawg stated.

You need to change it out as soon as possible. Many people speak highly of the Baker Compensator, but I don't know anything about the difference. Harley upgraded to the SE compensator in 2011 I think.
