I just punted my windshield after installing the Carlini Gangster Apes and now I am left to with the atrocious wind noise. It's almost unenjoyable to be on the bike now. I guess I got spoiled with the shield. So I am trying to find out who is doing what to combat this issue. Will the cheapo peanut plugs work. I just visited this website posted by another member here on another thread. https://www.westone.com/store/defend...al/motorsport/
has anybody used these or something similar? Obviously I still want to hear traffic, sirens, and of course exhaust but the wind leaves my ears ringing for hours after the ride. Kinda sucks.
Yes, I wear a half helmet.
If you check with a local gun shop they may have a 2 part silicone putty you kneed together then stuff in your ears to cure. I've been using them for years.
I use ear plugs with a half helmet. I sit behind a SSC curved windshield on my '06 'Lectra Glide Classic. I have no problem hearing surrounding sounds and even find that I can hear my music better at higher speeds. I use the highest decibel (usually around 28db) soft plugs that I can find.
When I didn't have a windshield I just used cheap plugs available anywhere and cut them in half. Block the wind and still let ya hear. I'm sure there are better options but it worked for me for many years.
I ALWAYS wear ear plugs. I have Tinnitus from military. I can hear radio, traffic, and passenger better when they are in. You don't want the squealing I hear all the time. Get some plugs and wear them.
I always wear earplugs, I bought a giant box off Amazon of the cheap foam plugs and they work great. Whether I'm on my Ultra Classic with a full fairing, or an open bike wind noise is really damaging to your hearing. It's a lot more than just annoying.
Just make sure you roll those soft plugs tight and install them properly. The proper method is push them in while holding your ear up and out with the opposite hand behind your head. Push them in until you gag and you're good to go!

Yes boys and girls, there is a proper way to insert them into your ear. I do get funny looks occasionally when I am putting them in.
