I use the cheap foam yellow ones, run them through the washing machine and reuse.

So much better riding with ear plugs. I dread days when I forget them.

I wear ear plugs. My friends look at me funny and my girl calls me a *****, but I don't care. I read that wind noise from bike riding is one of the top causes of hearing loss. I've been wearing them for years. I get the orange foam plugs from CVS. 32 decibel I believe. I've bought the more expensive fancy ones and I lose them. These work great for me. I also wear a half helmet. I wore a full face once and it was the worst couple of hours of my life. Half helmet or no helmet depending on where I'm at.

Those are cool! I have chrome skulls with red eyes that flash with the beat of the music. But they dont sound as good as the bullet ones I have. Still, very rare I listen to music unless I'm on a really long trip. Mostly it's the foam type with the flames for me 'cause I just like the sound of the motor. Buy them in bulk from a friend that runs a safety supply co. Let me know how the pistons work out?

I use ear buds attached to my phone so I can listen to music - it is nice to have the remote right on the wire where I can reach it as well.

Not always, but on longer trips - yes.

I third this. I use them inside a 3/4 helmet with wired in speakers. They work fantastic, and are pretty darn convenient as apposed to the small inconveniences (such as where to put them when making a quick stop, storage and reuse) that make foamies a pia, at least for the daily rider.

I do use the cord, but only to drape them when I need to pull them at a stop.

The challenge is to find a kind of earplugs that are comfortable and stay comfortable if you wear them all day. Some are easier to insert because they have a hard core in the middle of the flanges. But they become uncomfortable to me after an hour or so. After much trial and error, I have settled on the Surefire EP4s, which I can comfortably wear day in/day out on tour. http://www.surefire.com/ep4-sonic-defenders-plus.html You can also get them on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/SureFire-Defe...ep4&th=1&psc=1

I don't use the provided (but optional) cord between the two plugs. With the clear plugs they are almost invisible and work with any helmet style.
