Default Street glide handle bars

Has anyone put Wide Glide handle bars on a SG? Or does anyone have a good recommendation for different handle bars that provide for a closer reach?

The WG bars won't fit your SG. I had wo575's put on mine last Tuesday and theyare about 2" closer and much more comfortable. Bought them from Wild 1 for $159 in their blemished section. I wouldnot have been able find the blemish if they had'nt circled it with a felt tip pin. I'm very satisfied. All the cables worked except the clutch. Use stock part #38789-06 since I did'nt change to braided. If you are changing to braided check out www.johnnyvaughn.com . Compleat cable kits at good prices. Now to fix the butt burning seat!

I put a set of the Touring Pullback Handlebars on my Street Glide. At first I wasn't sure about them as I didn't like the width or the angle of the hand position. I thought they should be wider andthe hand position alittle more flat. After a while I got used to them. I looked up the dimensions in the Accessories catalog and here's what was given:

30.75" tip-to-tip wide
15.00" base width
8.00" rise
7.50"pullback

The other bars I would consider would be part number 56557-95 which is a chrome Road King Touring Handlebar. It is a little bit wider 31.25", has a slightly shorter rise at 7" but more pullback at 9". My only concern is the base width which is only 11.5". I'm not sure if that's wide enough to fit with the fairing. Which BTW, does anybody know the minimum width that will fit with a batwing fairing.

If you go to the Multi-Fit section of the accessories catalog there is a page with every HD handlebar part number and it's dimensions. You can compare them to your stock bars and see which may be best for what you are looking for. Personally I like a wide, low rise but long pullback bar. I may eventually try a differrent set of bars on my Street Glide to fit these characteristics.

Khromewerks 300505 street sweepers $63 and all is needed is a +3 clutch cable pn#38649-98. I was going to do the wild ones, but with a batwing not much of the wiring can be seen anyway so I decided to save my $$. I posted a pic of the comparison to stock in this section and will post the finished product probably by tomorrow morning.

If you're going to go through the trouble to do a set of bars on a fairing bike (considerable amount of work compared to a RK for example) I would not put a stock set of HD bars back on. You may as well upgrade the looks as well as the function. I just did the Wild1 bars on my SG a few weeks back and I find them much more comfortable and they look great!

the longer clutch cable is really all you need for those sweeper bars? The throttle/idle cables will reach okay?

All you need is a +3 clutch cable, and internal wiring doesn't really matter on a batwing because you don't see much of it anyway.

I agree you don't see much of the wiring, but what little you do see is cleaned up nicely by the internal wiring. I went +4 on the clutch and +2 on the idle/throttle cables. Everything fit nice, no slop and not too tight. People do use the stock length cables but I can see the stockers being barely long enough.
