I've been getting a particular brand show up in my Facebook feed all the time the last month. SA I think is the company. Specials that make them cost about $5 each when you buy 5 of them.
Buff is the main brand an originator I think? But they cost more.
I'd have never considered them b4, but grew my beard longer last winter and the hair is now going straight up into my eyes. I've been using a bandanna, but it doesn't work a hundred percent. Figured their must be something better. So these are supposed to have a cooling effect in summer, and be SPF 40, so help to not need sunscreen.
I think I am gonna place an order real soon for one of them but haven't decided whether Buff makes a better product to be worth the extra money.
As far as looks I think they look kinda stupid. This would be for purely functional reasons.
∆∆∆ This is my experience. I used to laugh at these guys wearing the skull masks. I've had a beard for a long time but decided to grow it long a couple of years ago, and yes, the beard comes up and covers my eyes.
Started wearing a bandana last summer and then got the "tube" mask made of stretchy material to keep my beard in place. Works better than anything else so far. I do not get hot and its very comfortable, in any weather. I have fork wind deflectors on the bike to help with the buffeting, which they do, but my beard is long and wild, and I need to see where I'm going.
Also, even though I use sport sunblock to protect from burn, I prefer the mask on my face.
My cover isn't a skull though, it just says Harley Davidson...

Including the tank emblems on the bikes we ride....hmmm, I guess according to you that would include just about all of us...lol.
I guess it's each to then own, I have rode a lot of miles with out a windshield on a bike . when conditions were bad wore a full face helmet , $hit just starting wearing full light weight leather gloves even when its hot out. that will be the first thing that hits the asphalt when you try to protect yourself if you go down. I could see maybe if your bike has no shield and it's getting towards the evening when most of the bugs are out. but laugh to my self every time I see a rider with one on with a bike having a fairing!
I wear one here in Texas during the summer for two reasons. I hate eating/breathing dust whilst riding and also it cuts down in sunburn on my nose and face. If I forget to bring sunscreen it's the next best thing.
My half helmet covers my bald head and my goggles cover my eyes and cheekbones.
I don't wear one with a skull or any of that, but I do wear a bandanna on my face in intense sun. Got a wicked burn on my nose and burnt my lips on a trip once riding into the sun most of day. That pain in my badly blistered lips for about a week was enough for me to not really care what someone else thinks of what I am wearing.
