Ignition help

So I pulled the ignition to put in fog lamps. Had to so I could access the dash panel for the switch install. No idea why, but it won't re-install. The **** just rotates, not catching anything. The front end rotates without locking to the left. It is stuck halfway there, won't come out to check alignment inside the tube either. Stressing out. Need advice, thanks. '17 SG

Do a YouTube search for Harley ignition removal. There are a bunch. Also several threads on this site a general Google search will find.

The factory service manual has the procedure, also, however, it doesn't cover when things go to hell in a handbasket with that assembly...and it will, inevitably. I recall the last time I had the same problem you are describing, I had to try the ignition shaft in several positions before it would lock in as it should. I also used the ignition tool from George's Garage...drove me to drink...
