RE: Street Glide Question
On cast wheels they are not sold wheels and the chrome dome thing will emit a harmonic sound, like a squeal. A year ago, before the service bulletin about swapping the rotors left to right, right to left, my dealer put foam/silicon in the void, and that stopped the squeal. When the SB came out, I had them swapped. When the swap was done, the brake drag noise I heard since I bought the bike, was gone. When you ride at a slow rate of speed, it is like a drag noise, that stops when the front brake is applied. So, for me, the silicon/foam stopped the squeal when applying the front break, and the rotor swap stopped the drag noise. Best thing, it cost me nothing. Sure, I could have gone to floating rotors, and new, better pads. But I didn't want to spend the money, until I needed to replace the worn out pads.
I have a rk custom, with the cast wheels. If you have the wire wheels, you wouldn't need the void to be filled, because you don't have the same type wheel. But the rotor swap would probally help, if you have any noise up front. JMHO. Hope this answers your question, kansas!
