Is all about personal preference. I like chrome w/little black, it works well for me. Old school riders believe the more chrome the better.
Today, many younger riders prefer black out, not really sure if it is a fad, but must say the stealth black out look is appealing... buuut is also massive, too many out there spoils it's uniqueness (no longer appealing).
My personal preference I like individualism, (something that looks really cool, but doesn't apply to the masses). Its all relative like women, blonde, brunette, red head, love them all, but we all have personal preference.
To each his own IMHO.

It appears everything in my life sucks, except for my vacuum cleaner. WDB

I'm not sure why people on here always say "to many out there". Have you ever been to a large gathering of bikes? I've been to a lot, matter of fact I was just at one two weeks ago. Number of blacked out touring bikes? Two and mine was one of them. The guy who had the dealer put a black front end on his bike doesn't have a blacked out bike. Every touring bike coming out of the factory is chromed, with the exception of some of the CVOs and the RK Special. Now tell me which there is more of??

Honestly don't pay these old fogeys no mind..... Harley been pumping out chrome bikes since the dawn of time. Now people without an AARP card are tired and bored with bright and shiny!!! They want something else and HD is delivering and they are selling like hot cakes!!! The blacked out look has been around for quite some time it's just now mainstream. Gearheads and rat rodders have been doing this look since idk when? This isn't "trend" or a "fad" that's gonna die out..... Its just not bikes but automobiles as well. Some people don't wanna be flashy or sitting around polishing chrome all damn day.
I seem to recall a few Shovelheads in the 70's & 80's with lwr fork legs painted black and engines blacked out.
Black paint jobs w/no decals or emblems.
The orig Lowrider came out with the mag wheels instead of spokes
They were black with the edges polished.
I gotta' tell ya', I'm glad the local dealer doesn't have a charcoal RK Special, I'd probably buy it....add a windshield with the hardware powder coated black.
I'm not a chrome fan...never have been.
Just bought one over here in Germany and added a Memphis slim windshield with black powder coated hardware. Will post pic shortly; looking forward to taking it back out on the autobahn with the windshield now.
