I drilled a 1/4 inch hole through the windshield 3 pocket backing. The put a metal 17mm ball using a 1/4 20 bolt and washers. It does vibrate a bit but is solid when rolling. I hard wired it inside the fairing so it comes on with the ignition.

[QUOTE=CVO SG;16454899]Thanks, Not sure of what pic you are referencing though. The mount on my bars is for my phone and cup holder. Made a single mount from SS to mount both items. Anyways

Look at page 72 2nd post look at first pic looks like same bars like yours but in chrome has nice chrome case with visor for the GPS

You could use this mount if you want something not on the bars or fairing....

Not at all picking at you but best guess is you don't ride in the rain much? I only say that as well before I went Zumo I tried the car type Garmin units on bikes. They worked fine until the terminals got wet after numerous rain storms.

Also, to a whole other group, the smartphone users, I hear your statements about being shockproof, water resistant, etc, etc. Currently using a couple smartphones, Droid Turbo and Galaxy S7 Edge. The edge is supposedly water resistant but I would surely not try to use it in a downpour as I have hundreds of times with my 660/Roadtech.

This is all from someone that has been there, done that with it all regarding GPS. Done my fair share of mapping and frankly just too old and tired of it. Best of luck!!!

I do ride in the rain all to often, but your right not with the garmin out.when it starts raining i put it in a pocket quick like, fully aware that it wouldn't work long getting wet.I would love to have the zumo but just a little out of my price range.I guess you could say i ride blind while raining, but in most cases it dosen't rain long and i can hook it back up.gps units are a great thing to have but do fail for various reasons(like rain)so its important to always have a basic idea where the hell your going.I don't rely souly on electronics to guide my way.

They make GPS cases to help in wet riding conditions. If I know the weather is going to be iffy on my trip, I use this case. They have other sizes as well.

I have had this on my bike for about 5 years, mounted it to the mirror hole on the clutch side.
