Clutch issues?

From your description, I also vote for the compensator being about shot. If you were having no clutch slipping issue before the adjustment, the idea of the clutch plates slipping is wrong. And, if the primary chain were that loose, I would think it would be noisy or you would have tremendous slop going from drive to coast. If your indie doesn't know what is going on, I would be suspect of his experience with Harleys. As another posted, your "translation" of what you were told could also be the problem for us to diagnose correctly.

So I took the bike back to the same dealer once I had the time and money set aside. It ended up being that the tensioner was set to tight, which caused to retaining nut to work loose and become basically stripped. Replaced the tensioner and guide, the nut, and fluids. Good to go, shifts smoother than ever! Guess I'll have a shop check the tension every so often so I don't jack it up again. $200 rather than $650! Had the fuel filter changed while I was at it. Damn how I missed my RK!! Thanks for the input fellas, I'm much more informed than before
