Default converting cig lighter

2013 FLHX nothing in the cigarette lighter.... nothing fits! seems a tad bit too large for replacement elements or most of the adapters. I have been looking around a bit to see if there is some type of replacement socket that is usb oriented. In other words, if I can't use anything in the lighter socket, i'll replace the socket with something I could use. who has done what????
thanks!

I was thinking about swapping out for a dedicated USB connection, but tried this first, and it's been successful. Haven't had any issues with it falling out or not charging, and I've been caught in a couple of good rain events with my phone plugged into it without issue. Fits pretty flush to the lighter socket, and I'm using USB cables with 90* bends at the plugs so they don't contact the tank at full steering lock. The ones I had with 'straight' plugs would make contact.

While I like the idea of fixed USB ports, the frequently increasing demand for charge current for devices makes me leary of, say, installing a 2.4a port, then my next device wanting 3.1a to charge properly.

One of the pleasant surprises when I upgraded to an Aquatic AV radio was the replacement USB port that came with the radio in place of the cigarette lighter. Much more useful nowadays.

The lighter socket will come right out from and you can replace it with the one that comes in the aux 12v kit from Harley:

This seems like a good use of the lighter spot. I wonder if this part can be sourced to be used as a charge port. Yes I have an adapter, this just seems cool

Per the instructions, this is a "charging only" port. You have to use the USB port inside the radio to play music.

Yes thats what im wanting. I dont see usb charging needs going away any time soon. Certainly dont need a lighter, I expect that to walk away if left in a lot one of these days. That looks like it will be handy

I like my cig lighter, my tire inflater powers from it so I don't have to rely on gas stations. Can't see a reason to change it myself.

I swapped it out with this.

Had to enlarge the hole by just a tiny bit. A couple mm at most. Well worth it. Who the H could light a cigarette with one of those things anyway.

I was considering doing the same, since I never used the cigarette lighter. Did you use the wiring off the cigarette lighter and plugged it directly Aux 12V Power Port or you needed to use the wiring harness that comes with Aux 12V Power Port?
