I have a new to me 2012 flhtcuSE7 touring bike. It has the open air cleaner. I did not get the rain sock that was supposed to be with it. I would like to know if I can can just purchase the rain sock from harley ? thanks Jeff
I have had the heavy breather on last 3 bikes. Never saw much benefit in having the rain sock in heavy downpours as long as the filter is properly cleaned/oiled. Others will surely argue that but that is my experience. Venture to say also that I ride in the rain quite a bit more than your average rider. Not tooting my horn, just wouldn't waste the money. The elastic does tend to stretch out over time as well.

Bingo. If it makes you sleep better than grab one. Never had a problem without one and been in some serious rain.
Ride down here in SWFL. Have been caught in some serious down pours. Rode for a couple of hrs in rain to get home from the Everglades, never so much as a hick-up. 2015 with a stock Ventilator air filter.
Tried putting it on the air filter on a dry day with plans of leaving it on all summer as it rains almost every day down here in the summer. I swear that it seems like the motor doesn't run as well with the rain sock on. Maybe its just my imagination.
Sock is great when you are about to wash your ride. Use a plastic wrap to cover the intake and the put the cover on, it also helps to keep bugs out of your intake when on long rides.

This for me on my last 2 bikes. No problems with or without it.
