The Blacked out Street glide is sweet... 3200 worth of extras for a few dollars more.. Dealers aren't digging it since the aftermarket mark up and install is bread and butter... the Moco does it so much cheaper.. still a nice looking bike
Just bought my 2018 RKS in Vivid Black and I'm in love. I can't stop staring at it. There's nothing wrong with liking chrome, but there's nothing wrong with not liking it either. Everybody that says that blacked out bikes are a dime-a-dozen and don't stand out, what's the difference for every Harley rider with chromed out baggers? Those don't stand out either after the last 100 years of Harley owners wanting chrome. Blacked out bikes and cars aren't really a fad at this point. People have been doing it for the last 10-15 years and it doesn't really look to be going away any time soon. Got my RKS for $3,000 under MSRP and got the dealer to pay the sales tax as well, so I'm still under what it costs for a standard RK with all your precious chrome. I'd love to see somebody buy a standard RK and add a SG front and rear fender, CVO bags, bars, and new wheels and tires for under what the RKS MSRP is.
By the way, everybody's bikes look great, chrome or blacked out.
Great looking bike! I'm glad I don't have to clean it tho, mines bad enough.
In the voice of the Old El Paso girl, why not both? A splash of chrome to accent the black would look really sharp!
I have two bikes, one blacked out Victory Highball, and my Street Glide...chrome is way easier to keep shiny than it is to deal with dust and water spots on the blacked out bike.

That would defeat the purpose of buying a blacked out bike... Might as well buy a standard RK in black then.
Thanks. Keeping the dust off of a black bike and keeping chrome polished are both uphill battles. All worth it though!
I like chrome myself, but the King Specials look pretty sharp, especially the black
A buddy has a '12 King in black and uses one of those Swiffer Dusters. Just sitting in the garage all winter picks up dust like a magnet and says the Swiffer makes it easy-peasy to keep clean.
I'm a chrome guy. I specifically searched out a new '17 for that reason. I do think the motors look good in black, but the pipes and forks take it too far for me. Just my opinion. I think it's a fad personally.

If its a fad its a long one, I can remember guys doing it in 2003. Fad no fad I dont care, I like it

Agreed. I'm not sure you can call it a fad after 15 years. And it's mostly people over 40 years old calling it a fad. Either way, I like both blacked out and chromed out, but I'm in love with my choice of blacked out
