Default 2016 RK windshield advice

Recently bought a 2016 RK and love it. I've put around 2500 miles on it in 3 weeks! Not great mileage but the season hasn't ended. Anyway, I bought it with a batwing fairing and JVC/ Kicker combo. I don't mind the batwing and if I kept it I would like a different shield, but I honestly don't need the stereo so the batwing is pointless for me. I know some of you will say keep the batwing and I haven't discredited that idea completely. I just really like the looks of the RK's with the "classic" style shield.

So to get to the bones of my question; what windshields are you guys running on your RK's? What mounting brackets work well? (Would a 14' CVO bracket work) and how do you like you set up, pros and cons?

Dont be be afraid to show off your scoot, that's one of the main reasons we're here anyway isn't it

LRS Road King Elite w/recurve and light tint. Uses the stock mounting brackets. At 6'1" the 18" height works for me. All pro's (including price), no con's.

I like the looks of a windshield vs a batwing, one of the reaons I got a Road King instead of something else. The stock shield was a little too tall for me - the top was right in my line of sight. I could stretch to look over or slouch to look through it. I went with a Klockwerks Flare 16" shield. It mounts to the stock windshield frame. It is shorter so I can look over it, but the curve puts the air right at the top of my helmet so top vents on my helmet still work. It also is a little wider than the stock shield with "hips" that direct wind off of my hands. This is great is cooler weather to keep my hands a little warmer without a direct blast of air on them. It was not cheap, about $220 if I remember correctly, but works great for me. I would definitely buy it again. Here's a couple pics of pics, front and side views.

Many different aftermarket shields, sizes and gray shades, will work with the stock bracket. The CVO-style will only work with that shield.

On the bat-wing, check with the maker if they offer a plain-Jane inner. A buddy has one with no stereo and uses the batwing for the long trips and cooler weather riding. It has a cigarette-lighter style power outlet and he uses it to power his GPS and phone when riding. Good shield for the hands.

LRS, without a doubt.
Call 'em, discuss what you want, you will not beat their quality or service.
Then, you will be telling others just like we are telling you!

OEM Harley. No complaints about quality and it's not shockingly expensive, especially if you find it on sale.

Another vote for LRS. Thats whats on my RK now, fits the OEM mounting brackets, and I measured it to their recommendation and couldnt be happier with it. I went with the elite version and light tint.

If you are not entertained with the radio than in the warmer weather by all means switch it out for a LRS re-curve in the proper height. I have both a glide and a king and not having the fairing is the whole point of riding the king. I will agree though in colder weather the batwing keeps the air off your hands and from going up your sleeves.
