Heat and some good penetrating type fluid is your friend. Put some heat to it...give it a shot of nut buster, kroil or pb blaster etc and let it sit awhile. Heat and blast again and try removing with whatever method you chose...those extractors work but buy a good one.

If it starts to look like the process will ugly up the slider...

Remove the forks, disassemble it and bring the slider to a reputable machine shop.

Also have them install the new studs.

11-15 ft/lbs is what my 2002 Road King service manual calls for on the axle pinch bolts.

Got both of the studs out of the fork, took a few hours of heat, liquid wrench, tapping, and a good vise grip tool. Will be more careful on the install. Thanks all!

there's absolutely nothing wrong with reviving an old thread for this purpose. There was a lot of good relevant info in it with multiple people who had been down that road already subscribed to it.
