Newbie here. I have a 2001 ultra, I have a push button Key fob. I have been following the directions on how to get into security mode to set my security pin getting nowhere. I push key fob button alarm arms, I hit button 2 times alarm disarms, but I cannot get in to the security mode to change my pin. Ignition thumb switch is Off. on off on off on, hit left turn 3 times then hit right turn nothing. Any suggestions,. just put new battery in fob.
thnks
Yes I did in look in the book and it has a rather lengthy process using the Key fob.
A little reading goes a long way. Long story short, Yes I set my new pin and even checked it with the security on and it does work.
The lesson here is that there are not just two ways to set/use the Security PIN (one for pushbutton fobs and one for Smart Fobs); there are several.
For instance, on my 2005 Sportster, to advance to the next digit when setting, I used the right turn signal (I think I am recalling this correctly), but on my 06 FLHRCI, I use the key fob. Also, my Road King gets disarmed with the ignition turned to "Accessory," not to usual "run" setting. Both the Sporty and the King are pushbutton fobs.
The web pages that only show two methods (pushbutton and non-pushbutton) may not necessarily show the method that is right for your bike. If you have an owner's manual, it is your best source for information specific to your model and year.
