I am looking for the widest luggage rack I can find. The bag I rock is 20" wide. I see that the MoCo has a rack that expands but it runs about $350. Wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction for a less expensive option. Connect to 4 point.
This is the one I have. The spec says 14.5 inches wide so you would still have some overhang. But 3 inches on each side won't be enough to touch the saddle bags. That rack and a little bungie type cargo net thing and I can carry a wide variety of stuff. It's held a half case of beer more than a few times.
Line the bottom of your bag with a nice stiff piece of scrap wood paneling....it's thin, it wont sag and is strong....save your money for a new rack......
I used 1/4" mdf. You have to put the sheet under the bag rather than in the bag. Because the sagging is caused when I tighten the straps to the rack rather than because of weight. If that makes sense. Tighten down the straps and because the footprint of the rack is so small it deforms the bottom of the bag.
Got one of those expandable racks. Used it on my Road King once. Own an Ultra Limited now so have no use for the rack. It's yours for $200 if you add $20 for shipping. Here's a pic of it on the bike before I traded it. PM me if interested.
A buddy has the HD Stealth rack on his King. He bolted a larger sheet of plywood (then switched to a metal plate) on the rack with holes on the ends for tie downs. Could be worth a try if you don't want to go permanent.
He uses a good size duffle bag and other soft luggage on it for some of our vacation trips.

i could be down with that. Let me check with the boss!
I wonder if I could get one of those racks that go on the tourpak and mount it directly to a tourpak mount. Does anyone know the dimensions of the bolts on the tourpak lid rack?

Yup! I have an Air Wing rack, although I suspect the mounting points for all tourpak racks are the same. Mounting holes are 8" apart fore and aft, 12" side-to-side. The rack is just over 20" overall width. A new one will cost about the same as the rack Check6 offered....
