I didn't use a kit and have a Dyna but I can say that I went from an 88" with stock cam to an 97", Andrews 37H cam, and bumped the compression to 10:1 with domed pistons and my mileage is still at 47 mpg highway. It really only eats at your mileage if you hit the throttle hard from stops. I will say that a kit isn't particularly necessary. If there is a good machinist in your area then find the pistons you want (forged vs cast, skirting, compression, and diameter) then take your jugs and pistons to him to match the bore to the pistons. After that put the jugs, pistons, and new cam in. Saves a lot of cash, enough that you should also take those heads to the machinist as well to get a valve job. Edit to add: Take a look at the Andrews 57 cam as well.

The main reason I went with Fuel Moto was reputation and because they are within 2 hours of me. I have no regrets other than I always want more. If I lived in the east I would have gone with Hillside. Talk to builders and take their suggestions serious, its what they do!
Nice! I forgot to mention, you talk with Jaime, tell him as much as you can about how/where you ride, what your goals are, he'll make cam and other recommendations. They never over sell you, but they will replace parts where necessary. (for instance new cam chains and Zippers cam chain tensioners.. I didn't need so much but at 63K miles and we were in there it made sense) I should have also replaced my spark plug wires with SE or the FM wires, which I did later. (standard good maintenance stuff to do while your at it.)

Some of these new cams they didn't even have when I did my 777 build and they are getting remarkable power. I hear they are not as radical as you might think but FM will be clear about all of that.

Definitely think about target tune too, even if you don't do the 107 build. It really rocks and it's lowered now in price. ($399)

So much fun helping people spend their money.

Thanks for the input guy's. Appreciated. I will keep doing research for a bit longer. This will be a winter project so no rush as of yet to get parts ordered.

If you want to keep reliability and fuel economy, stay with a cam only. The CR 570-2 would be a great choice. Look at the andrews 48 and 57 too.

A 107" kit with some pretty basic headwork and cams could easily yield 115 TP and 105-110 HP. *Should* be plenty reliable.

It all comes down do what do you want to gain, give up and spend.

Personally, I'd either do the cam only or open it up and do the bottom end and go 117 or 124. Keep it simple or do it right.

I have yet to see a cam for your needs that does better than the New Cyclerama 570-2 Check out this Dyno Sheet Over a 100 tq from 2400-5100 rpm's

I like your thinking. I don't mind spending money to get it right but I don't think I need that much $ to attain my goal.

That is impressive! Anyone else have experience/dyno sheets with this cam? Where can I get more info?

The tuner is a very nice guy. I bought my used 57's from him. Call or email him for questions. He has done lots of good testing with various cams and exhausts and sharing the results on another forum. On another thread hillside mentioned they get similar results with the cr570.

Go over and read this thread, all 228 pages of it, and hundreds of FM 107 riders, and you'll find 1 that comes to mind that had problems, and that guy wasn't using the suggested kit, but just part of FM's kit.

I'll say this, if you needed support and parts, it'd come faster and better from FM than anyplace else I know, including the local HD dealer. (just my opinion, but their service is beyond good)

...on the other hand, depends on how much you want/need and also affordability. A decent set of cams and you might be quite happy. I admittedly spent some good bucks on the engine, BUT, for me, I'm a fixed income retired guy and 29K for a new bagger wasn't in the cards, never mind all the other ergos (bars, seats, etc) it took to fit me just right.

Nice thing you've got going for you is you've got the Fuel Moto support for any mods you decide to do, he'll build you a new base map for your PV, and you're all set up with the right header/pipes and powervision. If you REALLY like the bike and see yourself keeping for a number of more years, GO FOR IT!!
Thanks for sharing that link . Im in albany NY .How did you get you bike out to fuel moto ? ship or ride out ?
