Well, I tried all the tricks and they all failed! That is, all but the freaking drill. The drill fixedthe missaligment issue with barely any material removed. Then it only took 15 minutes for each side.
I hate that Friggin docking kit.
Took me HOURS just to get a few friggin bolts on.
I ran back to the dealer for some advice and read the info on this forum.
That thing was still a byaaatch to put on.
I had a notion to go kick the parts guy in the nutz just to vent a little.
Why would HD even provide those crappy instructs?
Do they really just NOT give a chit?
I agree, it is bull for an old part/kit. HD should have updated the instructions a long time a go.
Something else to note, is that the two brackets "K"that link the front and the rear of the docking kit mounting points, don't come with the docking kit, but witht he docking accessories. I though I was missing parts untill my solo rack arrived and I looked at the parts that came with it.
Now the solo rack latch scratches the crap out of my saddle bag everytime I open or close it. I have to push the saddle bag away from the latch or it gets shreded. The latch should be grounded round and smooth to prevent this.
Hope you at least touch up the paint after the frustration correction. Suck to see some ferrous residue come dripping down your fender after a couple washings.
