I check my bearings at each tire change. SKF 6205 2RSJEM bearings, not including the HD ABS bearings. II think i have the Pit Posse bearing tools and they are working well enough
Pit boss tool worked for me I did mine on my 2010 ultra at 43000 just because not a bad job couple hours and you done. The old bearings looked ok but I'm the second owner and didn't know if they had been changed before. You should just go ahead and do it if you don't you'll think about it every time you ride that's what happened to me so I changed them for the peace of mind
Once I got shot of the Harley oe replacements for the originals that crapped out at 5k for the front and 8k for the rear, the Swedish ones seem to be doing well now for 30k mile.
I just changed mine in the front wheel, used the puller from George's Garage and it was a piece of cake!! I changed them at about 50000 miles for a set of stock bearings, they weren't bad but the new ones rolled a lot better. If you have the right tools it is REALLY EASY. Good luck

Reason: Edit for spelling
The proper amount and type of grease, along with really good seals, are key. If you replace a good set that meets the above criteria, and replace them with some that don't, then that early replace would be a bad move.
Still riding on the originals here, too.
