Traded a '15 Softail Slim for a '17 Road King. Curious if anyone has done any modification the rear lighting on a Road King?? Specifically, I'd like to remove the rear turn signal bar altogether and just use Custom Dynamics "Fillerz". I think it would give the back of the bike a "cleaner" look. However, when I examined the fender where the bar mounts, there are indentations where the light bar recesses in ... plus the hardware holes would show.
The "Fillerz" lights would be somewhat obscured by the stock light bar.
I think it will require a Street Glide fender. I'm not sure of the cost, but it would be worth it if your planning to keep the bike a while. Keep the old fender for the next owner.
I had the plate above the light on my 13rkc. I moved it down under the fender like a mud flap with a small led to light it up, did a lay down red lens with out the clear window and then just did smokers grey lenses.
Now that I see the SG fender closer, maybe what you want is the Ultra fender. It has the single tail light that you want. I don't know how much hassle there is getting one from Harley since they didn't build Ultras in your color. And I'm not sure how close a local painter can match that color. But where there is a will.................
