I appreciate all the replies - they're helpful.

The low speed throttle response was an example I was using but this happens at higher speed as well. And yes, the bike does have cruise control.

With the new Low Rider S I bought, which also has cruise, I can close the throttle very suddenly and yet it is a very smooth transition. My Street Glide is behaving much differently.

Foxtrapper - my tuner thinks it may also be the throttle blade setting though he says he never adjusted that. I will have to order the TTS cable and try playing with that setting but wasn't convinced that it was it but what you are saying makes sense.

If anybody has other suggestions please shoot them over.

I added extra closed throttle timing advance to get rid of excessive decal popping and it had the same effect. As you roll off the throttle it's smooth until you reach the closed throttle position, then the bike really slows down and sounds like a truck exhaust brake. It got rid of the popping but it isn't as smooth as it was. At some point I'm going to take it to get dyno tuned to hopefully find a happy medium of popping vs excessive engine braking.

I don't engine brake. I use the brakes for braking. I'm funny that way.

The problem I'm having is that whenever I close the throttle, regardless of the speed, the bike slows down abruptly. Even if I close the throttle gently you can still feel a slight jerk when the gas is off. This is a particular problem at slower speeds when I'm negotiating a tight turn and let off the gas in 1st or 2nd as it can make the bike unstable.

It's behaved this way as long as I can remember. I thought it was normal until I bought a new Dyna that doesn't do this.

My tuner says that this is not a tuning issue.

Has anybody else experienced this or can suggest what the issue might be?
How does your bike perform? Is it sluggish?

I know exactly what you mean the bike won't Coast when coming off throttle just slows down like a boat anchor. If you don't find an obvious mechanical problem you're going to need to get into that TTS tuner and look at the throttle blade control and as the others suggested. That was the first thing I disliked about my first fuel-injected bike.

What RPMs are you doing when you let off the throttle? If I'm over 3500 R's, it abruptly slows down. If I am at 2500, not so much.

No one has mentioned a chain that is too tight [failed tensioner] belt that is too tight [doughtful] brake caliper sticking real bad. Just something to ponder.

I honestly don't think it's a mechanical problem. The bike performs fine otherwise. I've got 50K miles on it and I ride it often so would notice if something was "off" with it. I'm waiting for my tuner to get back in town to show me how to adjust the throttle blade control.

Hate Work - It's happening between 2,500 and 3,200 rpms. I'm duplicating the same thing on my Dyna and it is REALLY smooth on it. Completely opposite than the Street Glide.

Just Me - brakes aren't sticking and I don't think that the belt has been adjusted but I'll ask my mechanic if that's a possibility if the throttle blade control doesn't work.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Does the bike coast normally if you just pull in the clutch? If so, that eliminates everything but the engine. If it slows abruptly with the clutch pulled in, it ISN'T the engine, but something else. Dragging brake, wheel bearing, then I'm out of ideas.
