On my last scoot, 08 SG, limp mode occurred. Let bike sit, it might or might not have throttle response when re-fired. Over an over. Took TBW plug apart, removing pins from plug. Wires to pins were fine. So I held the wires between my fingers as far down as I could while keeping the wires vertical, and moved each wire back and forth with my other hand. One was limp. Sliced that wire open length-wise, all but a few strands were hanging on. Soldered a new piece in, never happened again. Had bike from new, never had the plug off.

I had a similar issue with my 09 Classic. Motor still running, but no power. (Running down the interstate at 75 & passing somebody when it happens is kind of a nervous feeling.) Shut it down for 10 seconds, fire it back up, and it could be fine for 2 weeks or it might do it again in 2 miles. Turned out it was corrosion at the end of a wiring harness under the fairing. My warranty covered it. As soon as I got a new harness on, it never happened again.

Old thread but ,, I have a electra glide 2012 and mine also went 3 weeks ago in to limp mode.
I check the cable in the actuator and the throttle, nothing.
I bring it to a HD shop and we check the throttle and more things on the computer.
I Import the bike from the US to Holland and in the states there is NO switch on the side stand, what you have to have in Europe..
But,, the wiring is there!!
What he ( the shop owner ) see is that the wire from this side stand was between the angine and the frame and have a small cut.
When you accelerate and stop your engine moves a little up and down and this make the wire touch the frame and let it go in to limp mode!!
We check the wiring, its all connected.. crazy but my bike runs again.
He put some stronger tape and do the cable on a difrend place...
maiby Its helpful...
Regards Gerrit
