Default Gloop in Brake Calipers

Afternoon all,

Just been servicing the calipers on my old man's 2005 Road King and noticed some weird yellow muck in the bores - any ideas?

I don't believe anyone has mixed DOT5 as this is a bike with DOT4 master cylinder lids etc, so will have been DOT4 from the get go...?

What are the chance of water in the system?
I am not much of a wrench, but have never seen goop like that in my brakes.
Just flushed the system on the 02 Ultra this summer and the fluid was darker in color and Was done 4 years ago the last time around 35000 miles ago.
Look forward to more details and further opinions.
Rob

Sludge from neglect. Not uncommon, especially on cars. Wipe it out and rebuild. Nothing to be especially worried over having found

DOT4 absorbs moisture, as do all brake fluids except 5. Brake systems are not completely sealed systems. At points like caliper to seal junction you can get some emulsivacation that can build up.
As said, flushing the brake fluid every couple of years will go a long way to preventing that.
