Default Odometer stays on

I have a 06 road king classic. My odometer stays lit all the time. Does anyone else have this issue or is this normal for this year model. If not, what's the fix?

If your bike is like my 08, the lights are on all the time the bike is running, it doesn't know the difference between day and night, so the back lighting on the odometer is on all the time also. If you mean that the display won't change, can't reset the trip odometer, or something something similar, that was not clear in your post.

pretty sure he means that the mileage is visible on the odometer even with the ignition off.

Sounds like the reset button might be sticking or bad.

Hmm. My '02 is off completely when ignition off. But, in my newer vehicle it is on all the time so I just don't know. Maybe they are on all the time now?

If it is the display that is on all the time, I am another vote for the reset button having a problem, since pushing the reset button on a "dead bike" displays the total mileage for a few seconds.

Does it happen to have a speedo tach combo? Some of the early units did that as a "feature".

Sorry I was not clear but yes the odometer is always on not the lights. It's garage kept in a dry climate. With that said, should I buy a battery tender?
