anyone running a sound sysyem thats not hd and what are you impressions of it.basically looking for quality sound and lots of volume,Ilike music like by bikes loud and rock n.
I just installed a Sony, with XM, using the BT1000 Biketronics kit and then added a set of JM speakers. The install was quick and the sound is much better, butI am still wishing for a little more. I may put speakers in the tour pack or possibly in the lowers.
w231: If you are riding the RK Custom in your profile, the Biketronics and Hawg-wired systems won't do you much good since their products are designed to allow use of Sony (and perhaps other)stereo headunits instead of the HD units while retaining handlebar control of the headunit.

which sony unit did you go with? and wishing for a little more what? is the volume not enough or sound quality you are missing? i've got a sony mex1gp waiting for biketronics and j&m speakers to arrive. thanks, dave.
I have the Sony 805 with the Hogtunes speakers. I like the sound, but am having problems with reception. I had a Dakota Digital hidden antenna and removed it. What are you using for an antenna? I found that there is a stock antenna cable in my wiring harness, but cannot find the antenna end of the cable. I was thinking about installing a shorty antenna on the back of the bike. Any ideas? Thanks.
I bought the GT510. I considered the MEX1GP, but with the mp3 player in the Zumo and in my phone, I figure I didn't need another one. The specs are pretty much the same between the two units. I thought that the volume could be better, but when I turned it up in the garageto the volume I've been listening to on the road, all I can say is wow! That thing is loud! I think part of the problem is that my windshield is a little low and I'm getting a lot of wind noise. I have another windshield on order, so I'll find out when it get here.
I'm using the stock whip antenna on the tour pack and it works pretty well. But now that I'vegot the XM,the FM probably won't see much use. I've got both XM boxes velcroed in the fairing with one of them and the XM antenna right on top of the radio.
windshield hieght is definitely a major factor in being able to hear the stereo. on my stock hd cassette(lol) and eclipes speakers i can barely hear it at 60+ with the stock screen but with my taller screen its almost ok. hopefully the new setup will be much better!
