I don't have enough miles on HD to make a personal recommendation but my brother (has over 300K on the big twins) is firmly in the Dunlop camp. I have many Guzzi riding buds that also swear by the Dunlop K491s. The Metz that came on my Guzzi were only good for 7K on rear and 14 on front. It now has Dunlop on both ends.

This is my 3rd Cruiser, first Harley. I owned one set of Metzlers...I don't feel they were as nice as the Dunlops. I got fewer miles compared to the other tires on the same bike.

My $.02

I've always run Dunlop Elite tires on my Ultra Classic. I wear out 3 to 4 rear tires for each front one, usually getting just about 10,000 miles out of the rear before it's so thin you can almost see the air inside it.

I just put a rear tire on my Ultra.
Got 18,001 miles out of the one that came off=D402,WWW,MT90-16.
That is also what went back on[8D]
As you probably know, I am real happy with the Dunlops[sm=happybounce.gif]

I tend to play it real safe with tires and change them slightly before they are actually worn out, but on average 10k+- rear, and 20k front. I've gotten as much as 22k on a Conti years ago, but those days are gone, ha ha.

regardless of what brand you go with (Dunlop, Metz, Avon) I think you'll find your in that ball park mileage. Now if you can find a Cruisermax to fit your bike rear, then you'll get some better mileage.... T

I typically get 20,000 out of the front and 10,000 on the back. Doesn't matter if I use Dunlop, Avon, or Metzeler. I have to ask Markcuda though what air pressure he runs in the front and most importatnly the back? I can't imagine get 18,000 miles on the back tire! That is GREAT!!!
I don't do burn outs and I monitor my air pressure. Guess my bikes just like to eat tires.

Front tire=35 psi
Rear tire=40 psi, two up or by myself, still 40 psi.

I think the key here is that I stay off my rear brakes.
I use only the front but If and I say If I need the rear brakes
I will use them, other wise, I don't use the rear brake at all[8D]

I have about 6200 on my scoot and will have to replace the rear between 7 and 8 k. the front will easily go twice that. I was thinking about Metzler, but it seems most folks that have tried them are going back to the Dunlop.

Bigh HP and Crappy roads + short tire life. Here in FLA the roads are crap.
