WHIM problem with Mac software
I installed a WHIM and cable on my 2017 Roadglide. Installed software with a MacBook that was upgraded to the High Sierra OS as the older version would not support the HD download. Used same Mac to install software on non HD branded Sena 20S. Dealer flashed the boombox. Tried to pair the headset. The "pair headset" command never appeared on the boombox display. Apparently the WHIM does not recognize the headset??
The dealer tech said he did everything he was supposed to and had no solution. Said I needed the HD headset but everything i have heard is that the only problem is not getting stereo audio which I don't care about, I just want to be able to use bluetooth voice commands. I have read about issues with a Mac regarding the WHIM.
Perhaps I can install the software using a Windows based PC. Do I have to uninstall the software? If so,how I do that or will it remove it during the install automatically? Will I need to have the dealer re-flash the unit?
I contacted HD Customer service and was told that I should contact Harman Kardon.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thank you,
Sam

Has the WHIM had the dealer flash? If you installed it yourself it still needs a dealer flash. Maybe a couple months old , does not mean others can not benefit from it.
I have run across 3 so far that did self install but just would not except it needed a Dealer flash they confused the software with the flash.

I did have the dealer flash the box after the install. I tried to synch my 20S (not the hd version, don't care about stereo) while at the dealer. No luck, the tech had the laptop connected and all the line item that were supposed to be there were displayed on the laptop, however the "synch headset" was never displayed on the boom box. I have not used the bike during the winter, the weather is starting to change, I'm going to try reloading the software with a PC as I plan on replacing my 7 year old MAC. Wonder if I have to uninstall the software I loaded originally with the MAC or will it do that on its own when I re-install with the PC and I imagine I will have to return to the dealer for the flash.
When I first had the WHIM installed, there was no "pair headset" prompt. Took it back to the dealer with a picture on my phone of the prompt I had taken from this forum. An hour, and a new WHIM later, I am on the way, fully paired to my Sena 20s evo headset. It doesn't matter what you are using for a headset, if you don't have the prompt, you are dead in the water.

Got a new Windows 10 laptop. Updated the Boombox software, updated the Sena 20-S, reinstalled the WHIM software. Still did not see the "pair headset" prompt. Returned to dealer to "flash" the system again as I thought that might be the problem. Still no "pair headset" prompt. Tech assumed the module was bad, took a new one off the shelf, said they would warranty the one I installed. Took the fairing off and before he installed the new one, he unplugged the connector, plugged it back in and everything worked. The connector is quite robust, and it's unlikely anything was loose. Perhaps there is still some power to the module when the key is off and unplugging it and plugging back in is like doing a power cycle re-boot. That often fixes glitches on a PC. Other than that the tech had no explanation. As has been discussed, the non HD branded Sena unit only has mono when paired with the Boombox. I prefer to listen to the radio through the speakers which I think are pretty good, and I wear a full face helmet and it still sounds fine, so the mono headset does not bother me. I love the wireless voice commands. I didn't want be distracted taking my eyes off the road in order to use the Boombox which is why I bought the module in the first place. Anyone else have this happen?
Thanks all,
Sam
Thanks all,

I never could get my Sena HD20S to pair with the boombox, even after multiple tries. Finally called Sena and they walked me through pairing the headset. I never read anything about having to use the PHONE pairing mode to get them to communicate with each other. It worked and now I have stereo, phone and GPS prompts in my head...set.
