Default HD MP3 Player

Has anybody had any experince with Harley's MP3 Player. Does it come with speakers or how do you hear the sound. Can it be hooked up similar to an Electric Glide with your helment. Considering adding it to my 05 Road King Classic.

Thanks,

Mac

Mac,

The HD MP3 Player is designed to plug into the Classic or Ultra radio. It is not a stand alone unit. I think you could use it with the accessory radio they sell (Road Tech I believe) for Roadkings and other HDs. It plays through the factory installed speakers.

Mac, Terry is correct that it will also hook to the auxillary input of the Road Tech radio. I have the Road Tech and am considering purchasing the HD MP3 player, if you happen to get it, reply back and let me know what you think. It looks like a good unit and one I like about it is that it will take SD memory cards allowing you to upgrade the nubers of songs that it will hold.

Seems like a lot of questions lately on adding tunes to a tuneless bike.

Why not just carry a mp3 with earbuds?

Or am I missing something?

Mark,

Thanks for the comments. I do have a MP3 player but get a lot of wind with the ear buds. I was looking for a direct hook up with helment. Might have to look into some other type of ear buds or headphone type.

Thanks,

Mac

I use noise cancelling headphones made by Phillips. There about $15 to $20 on ebay. But they are only good with a 1/2 helmet. I also use a boosteroo booster amplifier with my mp3 player. I find the head phones give much less wind noise than the earbuds and their much more comfortable. I have had speakers on bikes in the past and I much perfer in the ear. The boosteroo also has three output jacks so you can hook up a passanger also. And then its all potable so you have much more flexibility.

I use an iPod Mini with Shure E3 professional earbuds and a custom mold for my ear specifically made by my audiologist to hold the E3's in place. Best sound I've ever heard on a bike, and I've had lots of 'em. I must confess to getting this idea on the Gold Wing forum (I admit to also being a Gold Wing owner - no flames please). Having the custom ear mold has a two-fold benefit: it greatly reduces wind noise and holds the earbuds in place at the same time. I called around, and the earmold prices ranged from $80 to $150. I just got back from the motorcycle show in Long Beach and had a set made for my wife by a company in Santa Margarita, CA. Cost was only $49 and the quality is as good as what my audiologist made for me. The name of the company was Baker products, or something like that. The Shures are not cheap, but they are excellent. You get what you pay for. The Shure/earmold combo is by far the best sound you can get on a bike. No bike stereo can come close. I've got an excellent stereo on my '05 Wing, but even on that bike I use the MP3 and earbuds.

UGGA,

What kind of helmet do you use with the Shure/earmold combination? Do you need a helmet to hold the earbuds in? I notice that when I use ear plugs I don't hear a thing except for the very low frequency engine sounds. Often thought that have ear buds that fit as well as ear plugs would be fantastic. Is this your experience?
