Ok guys, I need some help from you all. I am wanting to change out my stock gauges this winter & I really like the titanium gauges, plus there half the cost of the Dakota Digital ones with the analog face. I've got two different answers from Harley Dealers so now I need to hear from the ones that changed there gauges to the Titanium ones. How did you go about programming your mileage onto to the new speedometer?
One dealer said that when you order the gauge, enter your current mileage into the notes field and the MOCO will program it before it ships.
The other dealer said that once you get the gauge, a dealer has to tell the ECM that a new gauge was installed and it programs the mileage. Then you must take it for about a 5 mile ride to get it synced up.
BTW, my bike is a 2013 RGC
So which one is correct? The gauge part # is 74682-10
Mileage reinstatement is available through your Dealer
That means when you order the gauges they tell the moco what to set the mileage to. If I remember correctly they put some sticker on the back of the gauge as well.
Apparently, the first dealer doesn't know that they're only sold in stores. So, if you tell the MoCo what the mileage should be, what's to keep a dishonest person from rolling back the mileage 100, 1,000 or 10,000 miles?

Yup, you can tell them whatever you want. Roll it back as much as you want. The sticker says something like reinstated mileage, but you can peal that off.
I do know that the sealer can access the ECM & get the accurate mileage if you ask them to do so.
most people would want to see there actual mileage anyway, so why be dishonest about it..
thanks for all the replies, I do appreciate it!
