yes you drill holes but on the inside of the bags. if you choose to put two 6x9 per bag i suggest you use nuts and bolts do to the weight of the speakers. if you use one speaker per bag your safe with the stock pins.
here are my bags not the greatest pics but you get the idea.
yes by bike is dirty. i gotta get some new pipes. my rinehart baffels are lose and sound like crap so i have not been riding my scooter.
the stereo was done by my good friend at Precision Auto Stereo in Hayward Ca 510-537-1980.
Just add a capacitor and you wont have to worry about the battery draining or your lights dimming when the beat kicks. One of those round micro-farad caps.Check with any local auto-stereo shop.
I also live in Stockton. You can go see the guy's at Low-Life Customs. They are on West Lane, right next door to the Post Office and across from DeJa-Vu. They do all kinds of customizing, like lowering and sound/video. My buddy does mechanical work on their bikes and they put out some cool stuff. Also, I have a friend who does painting and air brushing. Let me know if you are interested.
I like that 6x9 set up and have been looking to see if this can be done thanks for the pics!! Do you get water in the bags when it rains with the holes drilled out like that? Thanks
Whut kind of 6x9's are those and your amp, what size?
Ill keep your shop in mind. Im from Stockton and down to always ride wherever. Thanks man.
i chose pioneer 3way 6x9s.you can get 4ways too.kicker use to make a cool 6x9 woofer with a small tweeter. i dunno if they still do.
i have mb quart in the front and a eclipse amp in the right side of the fairing.
i would get a much better sound if i used a aftermarket head unit and a larger amp i.eJL audio 4ch. i chose to stay small and clean. i like to use my bagsfor storage. GL with your bike
I have the same set up only kenwood 6x9s (4) in the bags---the mbQuart in fairing are the best 5.25 you can get the power handling is limitless.
I have been through the rain and accidently put water directly on the speakers --- I have not had a problem--I would suggest you fire the the speakers towards the wheel --- much more bass response this way.
MTX makes some good 4 channel amps---some models with built in fans---alpine has just come out with new slim line amps---very small (relative to whats out now) very powerful
