wow!!! A huge part of getting the SG, for me was the radio. And you guys have taken it to the next level. Thats killer.
Was wondering, has anyone modded out a faring to set in bigger speakers and or additional speakers. I would think that someone with fiberglassing skills could make a real nice set up.
u done good---great looking set up---when you get the amp (trust me you will) it will take itover the top

Well i made the jump and put a set of speakers in my bags!!!! First I got rid of the 4.5 inch speakers in front and cramed a couple of 6 inch kickers for some quality sound up front!! I then went with a couple of polk 6.5 (These are marine grade also)in the bags as I wanted some good base without sacrificing to much space. I also cut the speaker hole out and mounted it on the outside and that saved a ton of room inside as well. I have some better wiring to do and find the best place to put the connectors but all in all it was a simple convert!! And talk aboyt sounding nice wow what a difference it makes I can now play tunes on the bike like the were meant to be heard!!! I have a clarion head unit so I have the fader and I just love this setup I may ad a amp later on but I want to find the smallest 4 way one they make so I can mount in the fairing. Thanks for the great post I am so glad I can listen to tunes on the highway agian and with some thump to boot!!!
Very interesting ideas! I will be looking into something like that for a winter project this coming winter. I have a set of Hog Tunes in my fairing right now but I still want a better sound. I know PEZ sells a 4 speaker plus amp set up and was wondering if putting his 4" speakers in the bags like that would give a better sound. I really hate to loose that much bag space and am looking for a basically plug & play set up as I know very little about sound systems.
I don't think you would lose that much space using 6 1/2s---I went with 6x9s but I also have a tour pak so space was not that much of an issue for me.

Heres a couple of pics I did to my Street Glide last week. I went with the 6x9's facing the wheel. They sound clean with decent bass. I wasnt really goin for any massive bass, just decent bass. I replaced the fronts with infinity 5 and a quarters and they sound real bright with the amp hook up.
What amp did you use? Also how did you know where the rear speakers wired to. I read that you need a HD tech to enable the rear speakers on a SG. Is this true? Thanks in advance!
YOU ARE RIGHT PUTTING IN THE AMP ON FRIDAY!!! It is just not loud enough on the highway with my rineharts!! The kicker 6inch sound great in front and the amp should make all sound even better!! I just need to find one small enough for under the fairing though. My son has a 600 watt that is medium sized I will see if it fits tommorow.I will post pics when done

the speakers are mb quart and the amp is a 240 watt soundstream amp that its in the other bag. Hawg Wired makes a tiny lil 150 watt amp that fits right on top of the deck in the fairing. I decided to go with the amp in the bag becuz of price. It takes some room, but not all. Maybe Ill go with the Hawg Wired 1 of these days. Also, I talked to a local Auto stereo shop and most of the companies are begininng to make smaller amps coming soon.
