Default Battery tender Jr?

I have had a battery tender jr for about 7 years. I always plug my bike up when I park it for more than a day. I have not rode my bike in about 2 months. This past week I have noticed my tender doing something I have never seen before. I just happen to getting out of the truck in the garage and notice it go from solid green to start flashing green. I have notice this about 4 times this week. Just went to the garage to get something for the wife and the light was red. I am guessing the battery has gone bad. The battery is just a little over a year old. Has anyone noticed theres doing that?

I don't think the one I use on the wr ever blinked or at least I haven't noticed it if it did. If the battery is only a year old maybe the tender stopped working?

Don't guess! Start by simply turning the tender off or unplugging it, then starting it up again - a bit like Microsoft! If you have doubts about your battery, use a multimeter to check it's voltage when disconnected. You could also check the charging system on your bike, to make sure it isn't messing you up.

I have the BatteryMinder brand. It has a RED and a GREEN light. When plugged into wall power, the RED light glows, indicating it has power from the wall. Once I plug the connector to the vehicle the GREEN light glows SOLID...until it brings the battery up to charge (typically within about 30 minutes) THEN....it changes to a BLINKING GREEN which idicates it goes into the "maintaining" mode. (perfectly normal). Perhaps your brand does the same. BTW.....as soon as I park in my garage I plug it in.....my batteries typically last 6+ yrs.

If you look on the tender it should say what all of the blinking lights indicate.

One other thing, just because your battery is a year old doesn’t mean it’s good, I would remove battery from your mc, charge accordingly, with a different charger let sit for 24 hours after charging and check voltage.

Subscribing too!

Some testing info.

The battery tender will flash green when the battery reaches 80% of it's full charge. It will show a solid green once it reaches 100% charged. I had a similar experience with a Battery Tender Junior. It would show red and the green flashing lights after it had indicated a fully charged battery. I would unplug the charger and then connect back to the bike. This would correct the function sometimes. I finally went and purchased the 3 amp battery tender. It's all good now. Yes, check your battery but, the charger may have gone bad.

If you can do a voltage test across the battery, I usually go through the pigtail for a quick check. If you can go with out for a couple of weeks send it down to Deltran in Deland, FL. They used to have a ten year warranty on their tenders. Anyways have them check it out and who knows maybe they'll send you a replacement. A fine customer based company. Batteries aren't what they used to be. Check battery connections for any corrosion, clean if necessary.

I believe the op’r stated he had a Battery Tender Jr, if I’m not mistaken they only have a 5 year warranty.

Disconnect the bike from the equation. Could be the bike is draining the battery, also make sure the battery is clean, some say it will conduct across the battery, I doubt that.

I stand corrected, the Jr. has a 5 year warranty. The 1.25A tender has the 10 year warranty and the OP did state he was using the Jr. I use both, but been using Deltran products since 2000, Deltran is a good upstanding company that takes care of their customers, I haven't had any problems with them.
