Thanks for the kind words, friends. I also wave at anyone no matter what the ride - hey - 2 wheels are 2 wheels. A couple observations after a 150 mile ride with my wife on the back today (temps in the high 80's). At speed, absolutely no heat from the water cooled engine - this was a major problem for her riding the RK - she would actually sear her right ankle if caught in traffic. I now have ABS, a feature I was acustomed to on the BMW I had previous the RK. I am convinced that ABS is a safety feature all bikes should have as standard equipment. Working in a HD shop, I hear the racket from loud pipes all day - quiet seems to suit me and the Wing is quiet. I do park the bike along side the others at the shop and have taken quite a "ride", but, to be honest, several of the mechs have other brands too. Anyway, not trying to convince anyone which is better or worse, it's a personal choice. At one time, we bought Americanto support the workers here - my bike was built in Marysville OH by American workers using international parts. I'll be checking back.

I give him maybe a year at best before he'll swap that thing for another Harley.

I'm with you, Ted, if a Wing floats your boat, do it and never look back. Heck, someday I might have one too. From what I've heard they are great bikes. One of the instructors in my MSF had one and he could do everything we had to do on small bikes, and fact is he did everything better than we did. Even saw him come to a full stop without putting his feet down, stay there for about ten seconds, then start up again. Great bike.

Ted, I couldn't agree more with you on that statement. It's on the HD Police bikes for a reason.

I came a day away from a Wing in '05...I have swapped with a Bro I ride with many tmes and the power that 1800 has outta the box puts a 103 SE tricked ut with all the stuff we do to our HDs to shame.

I ride a lot...six to ten day runs...and much as I love HD, the Wing is meant for that...and it is a great ride.

I've always respected your informative comments and sure don't want to lose your opinions just because you went to the darkside. Hope you stick with us. Enjoy your new ride.

I too am among the ranks of those who have owned both Gold Wings (2)and Harley's (3). I have been with Harley since July of 1990 and have never looked back. I prefer the seating position on the Harley's to the Wings, much to restrictive no wiggle room on the Wing. On a long ride which I do most of the time being able to change your foot position is very important to me now, "foot board to highway pegs to top of crash bar and any combination of". Oh well I'm just a Harley kinds guy now

I was given an offer on my 2005 Road King this past week and took it. It's now history. And, to make things even more complicated, at least for the guys I work with at the shop, I bought a 2007 Gold Wing. I'll still be a regular here, but, I need to learn a lot about the Wing too. Please don't launch any missles my way - I was ready to change and it is normal for me to keep a bike for a couple of years and then move on. Hope I can still contribute - feel free to ask any questions regarding Wing vs RK comparisions.
Comparing the RK and the GL1800 is like apples and oranges both will give you a great riding experience. Have fun with your new scoot!

Cheers!
