What Katmandu has over the Chip is cleanliness and location hands down.
It's located the exit before Sturgis - like a mile, so you don't have to cross Hell (town/main street/Lazelle) twice a day just to get to the riding down south.

Sitting in that traffic or taking a rutted 5 mile dirt road by pass is not a party. It's a 1-2 hour pain in the ***.

I guess I just haven't gotten to the point where I need to sleep at sundown. There's still live music playing at the Chip at 1 AM. That means there's still fun to be had! 😁

I have heard people talk about the traffic downtown every day day. I've never gone through downtown to getting into/out of town. The very first time time I went, I learned about the Exit 32/Nellie shortcut. Easy-peasy.

It's just different strokes for different folks. Another couple that we go with sometimes tried talking us into a different campground this year, because the Chip is just too loud and crazy for them. We apologized, and told them that maybe it's time for us to do our own thing. We have no desire to stay at Kathmandu, or Rush-Me-Not, or the Shady Grove, etc.

I know what you're saying and yeah different strokes. I can find a party about anywhere. That riding though... would rather be closer to it and rest easy at night to get back at it the next day.

My one time at the Chip was enough. Wasn't bad, just typical. The party is better at Glencoe anyway. Good and Raunchy!

I am trying not to have a lot of expectations and just enjoy it. I may love it may hate it, but it will be a story and likely something I won't forget. Can't wait. Maybe will meet up over the week.

In regards to the EZ Camp option, many people will just ride on over to the local Walmart and pickup the camping gear and just leave it at the Chip or give it away at the end of the rally. This is a much cheaper option.

I got the same advise here at work as far as buying "throw away" gear. When I was looking at the map of the campground though I saw an interesting thing that looks like the Ez camp may have a separate area which appealed to me. If that's not the case I'll have learned something. It won't be my first mistake lol.

You're either going to love it or hate it. Every year, these posts start popping up, and you're always going to have a lot of people explaining to you why you're going to hate The Chip. Maybe a lot of people do. i suppose it just depends on what your expectations are. I need a tent, blanket, and a chair. Everything else is luxurious to me. LOL!

I'm trying to not have any expectations and just go with the experience. I don't party anymore but that's the point of going to Sturgis so I'm going to give it a go!
