I also have the Sunpie ones. They work great for me.
I did not buy the spacer ring, I just trimmed out the factory bucket with snips until it fit. My visors also fit with little effort.
Beam pattern is much more defined with a sharp line at the top where the light stops. Height adjustment is important to prevent blinding oncoming traffic.
Unfortunately I do not have a good picture of the beam, but these might give you an idea...
My son's first time riding a Harley...
Been looking into aftermarket daymaker led headlight, spot lights. I have been thinkin about the sunpie brand, any buddy with experience with these good or bad would be appreciated . Thanks
I just bought a Sunpie. $59 (black version). Had to buy a $17 adapter harness to make it work. I really like it. Its good and bright and certainly not $500
I just installed the Sunpie headlight and aux light set on my 99 Road King last night - love them, and cant wait to go for a ride at night.
I did get and install with the Sunpie mounting ring for the headlight. When reading the kit application fitment, the older bikes need the headlight ring, while newer bikes, I believe 2014 and newer, install without the ring. Read and choose carefully - I did not read carefully, and I had to order the ring separately, which cost me $10 extra that I could have saved by ordering the kit with the ring included.
What I did learn with this is -
1 - I absolutely needed the ring for the headlight on my bike, and this allowed for a clean install without cutting anything
2 - when mounting the headlight, I found some feedback stating the best install results were to tighten down the 3 spring loaded adjustment screws on the Sunpie mounting ring. This allowed a flush install of the outer trim ring the nacelle.
I also have the visor on my headlight and Ill need to play with this a little bit, potentially. When I removed my oem headlight, the visor is/was installed with 2 sided tape to keep it in place. I have it installed with the tape left on the visor from removing it, as kind of a padded spacer, but will apply new tape if needed, if the visor does startt moving around.
So, the Sunpie Daymaker LED headlight kit, with the 2 fog/passing/aux lights = $96.98 - feee shipping and no sales tax
The headlight mounting ring bracket = $25.99 - free shipping and no sales tax
My total = $122.97
Kit cost with headlight ring/bracket = $112.99 free shipping and no sales tax
Interesting - the passing lamps come with pig tail connectors, that I only needed to add a crimp on spade end, to match up to the factory connectors
I think it depends on the style of lamp. Mine were a sealed one piece light bulb. Some bikes have a bulb that can be removed from the lamp.
I don't remember exactly what connectors my bulb had. Its quite possible that a couple spade connectors would have worked with mine as well. I just hard wired them because none of the supplied connectors were correct and experience tells me that soldered connections are forever. And they arent vulnerable to the "miniscule" vibrations us Harley riders live with...
