I had an 08 Ultra that I bought new. 6 gallon tank requires 08 and newer seat. First year Throttle By Wire (need to learn how to reset it on occasion) Brembo brakes are very good. The only part that I know of that is 2008 only is the frame cover for the police seat setup (old frame, new seat)
Although it is a fine bike, it cannot be compared to say a Rushmore bike. There are just too many changes and upgrades. My father normally prefers to ride Shovelheads (he has 4 of them) but also keeps an Electraglide around for cross-country riding. He also bought an 08 after I bought one. He really hated that bike for some reason and went back to an older model. I have no idea why he felt that way towards that bike.
Bottom line to me is if the price is right and it fits your wants and needs, go for it. Nothing wrong with that year any more than any other year.
Now you are going to get snowballed with replies of people telling you not to buy anything older than 09 because of the new frame. but unless you have ridden both in comparison will your butt be able to discern the difference? I have ridden mine for 3 years and have ridden my buddy's 14 S glide and I can't tell the difference in the frame.
I have ridden and owned both style frames and honestly there is not that much difference in the two in my mind. Yes the 09 is a little better ride quality but not enough to make me say I would never own a pre 09 bike.
I currently have an 09 Road King Classic but I have recently found myself craving the fairing and stereo. The tour pack and locking bags would be nice too. I may have to call the CL seller up and go take a peek at his bike. Anyone looking for an 09 Road King? LOL
Agree on all other posters...what you see in you CL ad is exactly what I have..08 FLHTC.
No major issues with mine. 6 gal tank and TBW. Any issues mine had were common ones. Comp has been replaced and VR. Other than that its a stock 96 twinky!
But also about the seat. I am in the market for a replacement or repair as some of my stitching has started to let go and the whole "what year seat fits what year bike" regarding the 08 can be a bit confusing!

I joined this forum after buying my 08 SG. I read all kinds of negative stuff about my new bike and started worrying about my purchase.
10 years and 65,000 miles later I am still loving my ride and I am glad I bought it and plan to keep riding it as long as it stays reliable.

I felt the same way when I bought my 07. Not as many years or miles but it's been and is a great bike.
07 got the 96, 5 speed and 5 gallon tank, 08 6 gallon tank, tbw, brembo...

My seat did the same thing. Bought a new cover off ebay for $90 and looks like new. The difference in mine is it doesn't have the stitching across the back of the drivers portion that always comes apart.
Love my 08 UC. Went from a 09 SG to the 08 UC. Bought it 2 years ago. Bike was bone stock with only 13,750 miles on it. Compensator took a dump at 30,000 miles while on a trip. ONLY $1300 to get that fixed at dealer. LOL Other than that, nothing major. Taking her out west again this summer with no worries
