I found a set of 2017 13" shocks wit 400 miles on them and the guy is asking $200 they are off an electraide
I'm with you on the shocks, in the market myself right now. I'd check on the fitment for you bike on those, get the part number and make sure they'll fit thru HD website. Not sure if 13" would fit, but check.
I checked with the seller he had put them on a friends 2011 ultra but couldn't flat foot so they took them back off seeing I'm 6'4" I'm sure I won't have a problem. I think I'm gonna give them a try he accepted $150

You won’t get hurt on your choice here.
If and when you decide custom built for you shocks are something worth it to you, you will have all the information on this forum to review.
Just a suggestion, if and when you do decide to go the route of another shock I would consider the pro-actions as they get some very good ratings and when the time comes for rebuilding them, ITS FREE at no cost to the original purchaser.
I with you Big Mike. I put 1000 miles on a 17 limited and it was a lot better ride than my air shocks. I weigh close to you and the OL was with me, she even said how much better they rode. Budget wise I wasn't going to get any of the big name custom shocks so I got a set 13" takes offs from a 2018. At $150 you did better than me. It's a better ride at a bargain price. Someone on here said they wore out around 30k miles for him. I'll be happy with 30k miles for the price.
No they're not - they are worth every penny, to get a ride quality you may not realise you can both enjoy. Just relax, take ten, chill for a while and ask yourself - do the two of you really really want to enjoy the ride? If so, don't buy cheap shocks in a box off the shelf, get them from someone who will custom build them for you, with the correct rate springs, damping settings etc. Then start saving for a set of fork cartridges, as good shocks will highlight how bad the stock forks are! Once you're done the horizon will beckon like never before.....
....your bike will also be faster, so you can save the cash you intended to spend on tuning stuff!
You'll thank us before very long!
Good advice right here.....
My advice.... "Buy once, cry once...."
I made the mistake of trying to find a "better" shock for my old bagger. There are a lot of "better" shocks. I found out I really wanted "Best" and one that gave my better half the best ride. The passenger feels the ride different than the driver. Four shocks, and many dollars later, the Mrs was finally happy....! That was with slightly used Ohlins....
I just upgraded my bike and will be going right to Ohlins... and I'll be getting them set-up by Howard this time.... Live & learn....
