Default Headlight aiming

Hello all, I hope this isn't a stupid question.......I just installed a daymaker knockoff head light and needed an adaptor ring for the install.

Its for my 2011 Street Glide.

I was wondering is there a specific distance that the low beam should hit the road away from the bike?

I just want to get the adjustment right.

Thanks in advance

Dan

Default Headlight Aiming

I don't think it is any different for the baggers, but for my Dyna, the manual says from 25feet away from a target the beam should be at 36inches (the center).
I do have a 17 Road Glide manual, but it's in the garage and it's almost 11pm...not tonight.

I always aim my headlights an inch below center of bulb at 15-20 feet for low beam. Just a tick below level.

There are plenty of tips on-line if you search for adjusting/aiming headlights. The same principle applies to both cars and bikes:

I don't use any calculations; I ride at night and bring a screw driver. Just make adjustments in 1/4 turns. I always set them up to be below horizontal, but I adjust them to hit the road as far out at the light throws...some weaker bulbs don't throw light as far, so adjusting them higher does no good.

I needed one full turn up from factory to get the stock Daymaker adjusted properly. This was my first bike with the Daymaker and with the factory settings I was initially extremely displeased with it, but after setting it correctly it's like night and day (pun intended).

^^This^^
When I bought my bike new, I did not like the adjustment AT ALL. Looked in the manual, they were in line with it. I adjusted it to my liking, including the passing lamp mod to blaze all three on high beam when I want on country roads at night.
I like the beam patterns on my newer vehicles, and that is what I go for on my bike. With good quality LED's, you can get close. I like a good, clean, fairly even line across on dim, and when you hit bright it just fills out the top.
SAFETY FIRST!

I put a set in my 2010 and had to adjust it all the way down to keep the beam on the ground
