Default Clutch cable boot

I just replaced my clutch cable and bought a Magnum cable. It did not come with a boot. As I watched a video on Youtube someone mentioned this and said that they make the adjustment linkage so you do not need a boot any longer. Does anyone know if this is true?

I always thought the boot kept the street crud out, I admit sometimes they are are a PIA and crack on the end but served a purpose.

What's the problem, it's available as a geniune H-D part, "#38630-88, BOOT, CLUTCH CABLE", for a few dollars. For future reference you can check stuff like this on-line here.

The problem is I don;t want it on there if it is not necessary, it is a pain in the *** to get over the clip on a Magnum cable. As it turns out it is not needed on a Magnum clutch cable I wasn't saving any money because I have one. And is this not "on line"?

Mine didn't come with one either, It's not needed but it looked unfinished so I used the old one.

Think I'll try spray plasti dip on mine . Only needed to adjust once in 26k so shouldn't be a big problem removing and re-spraying it.
