I usually clean both of my bikes several times throughout the season. I have two buckets; one to wash and one to rinse, use terry cloth for both. Don't use the hose/pressure washer anymore. Try to get into all the knooks and crannys. Have the radio/TV on and a few pops.
I just like my stuff clean, but that's me. Some of my friends will stop by with their scoots and start cleaning. I'll be watching the dirt roll of in droves and say, WTF, when did you last clean her up. They say a year or two ago. I hand them a beer and they get cleaning. Most of them after that kept their rides clean, especially after they saw the difference.
Op; it's a new bike and you're getting to know it.
Not 1 thing wrong with that.
On the other hand being as meticulous as you are will probably save you headache or maybe even heartache down the road as you will see right away when something is wrong. That alone could save your life if it was a safety oriented thing.
Congrats on the new ride !!
How about some pics of that baby?

Congrats on the new ride !!

Thanks and will try to get some pics if it ever stops raining here in Tennessee!
New toys always get more attention. Winter brings on a major cleaning...warm weather brings on much riding. If available time....riding comes first...if time still allows she gets a bath.
Your thoughts on my obsession on a clean scoot.....?
Mutual grooming releases Oxytocin hormone that promotes bonding in most animals, and we are all animals. Subconsciously, your wife is challenged by this, because it's arising from a different source than her. It's a primal instinct, she can't help it.
Are you giving her enough attention? Roses, chocolates?
Yes, if you don't clean and then treat it with the right gloop, all that crud will lead to unseen corrosion you, or the next buyer, will regret later.
Tell me how I know that?
Buy a table lift and some tie downs. Your knees will thank you and lying down besides your bike to show it love is starting to get a little freaky.
