I decided I didn't want too tall a top gear, so chose the 27T optional comp, also used a 30T trans pulley, so I have a slightly lower 1st gear, but still have a taller 6th, for chasing Porsches!
Our 6 speed is a direct bolt in. One thing to look out for is the 1st gear on the counter shaft should you choose to go with the 3.24 first gear as it is slightly larger than the stock 3.21 1st. Because Harley cases are cast some castings can be thicker than others.
So what you want to do is insert the gearset and give it a spin. If it spins freely you are good to go. If not it will leave a witness mark on the case under the 1st counter gear. Just use a die grinder or a Dremmel tool to clearance the area.
