Haven’t been on in a while and was wondering if there have been any breakthroughs in the annoying lifter and rocker arm tapping at speed. If there is a reasonable fix, I’m about ready to give it a go.
Just curious, did you go with adjustable push rods and new lifters, when you changed out your cams? I'm just wondering if you re-adjusted the pushrods, if that would make a difference. My drivetrain actually got much quieter after my Woods cams were installed. That might be the easiest and cheapest fix. If that doesn't work, you could always go in and put in the Rock-outs.
they do work!..but be careful installing them, i put a set in my softail and the install went great, got another set for my road king, but one mushroomed when i was installing it, so i never got the road king done, but the do quiet down these motors.

I haven't had my 2010 Street Glide long and i usually ride with a Modular helmet and play my ipod music. Today i wore a Police style helmet and listened to the radio. As i was pulling in the service dept. for the recall on the ABS brake flush i turned off the radio. They finish the recall and i leave with the radio off. I start hearing a noise like someone snapping a small limb, or some pop corn being popped or a small pebble hitting your car windshield several other ways to describe the poping. ??? It wasn't constant and did it in all gears. I never could pinpoint where it was coming from. I don't know the history of the bike and don't know if it has done it from day one of my ownership since i wear the Modular helmet and listen to music. Do you think i might have that going on with my bike????

Could be rocker shaft noise as mentioned above. Does it do it mostly under acceleration? If so could be pinging.... try premium gas if you haven't already.

Yes under acceleration and i do use premium gas. I am waiting on my Indy to call me so i can take it to him and let him ride it. It doesn't make the noise at idle . ???????? Thanks for your reply.
I am running stock push rods with an Andrews cam. I changed to Red line 20w60 and most of the valve train noise went away. Yes it gets warm in FL but the oil made a difference

I have been runnin 20/60 RL for the last couple years in my HI bike and it helped a bit, but looking fwd to my Rockouts arriving tomorrow.
My standard recommendation... when it comes to noise, invariably dino oil is better than synthetic. My personal choice is Spectro 25-60, nothing else I've tried comes close & I've tried a LOT of oils.
If you have noise, give it a try at your next oil change
