I start hearing a noise like someone snapping a small limb, or some pop corn being popped or a small pebble hitting your car windshield several other ways to describe the poping. ??? It wasn't constant and did it in all gears. I never could pinpoint where it was coming from. I don't know the history of the bike and don't know if it has done it from day one of my ownership since i wear the Modular helmet and listen to music. Do you think i might have that going on with my bike????
I think I recognize the description of the noise you talking about. It happens under anything but light acceleration. I already have rockouts installed. It started after I switched to a new set of slip-on mufflers. I believe what your hearing is (spark knock) pre-ignition. I run rec-fuel ,100%gas 91 octane. I’m going to reflash the ECU or run an auto tune with my tuner. That should cure to noise.

My standard recommendation... when it comes to noise, invariably dino oil is better than synthetic. My personal choice is Spectro 25-60, nothing else I've tried comes close & I've tried a LOT of oils.

If you have noise, give it a try at your next oil change

Chalk up another success story for Rockouts! After we put 'em in yesterday, my neighbor waited until he could get new spark plugs for a start today...and he reports that the silence from his valve train is...golden...
