I am new to Harley's and bought my first one over the summer. The bike was in ok condition, but I got a good deal on a whole tin set. I just noticed that the tank is for an carb bike and not EFI. I know you can convert from the EFI tank to Carb but can you do the opposite? I am about 99% I know the answer, but a little reassurance will help. Thank you.
No petcock. EFI has a fuel pump, regulator and some other stuff in the tank, and the tank has a fairly large opening in the top for all that to fit through. There's a pressure feed and return fuel line on quick-disconnect fittings on teh bottom of the tank that go to the injectors.
While it technically be done, even using a conventional petcock, it's probably not worthwhile doing it. Just get a fuel injected tank, complete, at a swap meet and you'll be at least hours ahead on fabrication work.
