Tell those people you will get a new bike when they start putting hundred dollar bills in your hand to get one.I'm the opposite of most people,I only like to brag about how little I got something for. I also like the look on their faces when I tell them my bike is close to twenty years old,99% of people around here there have no clue what year a Harley is or that a good one can be had for way,way less than $50K...
Stay with what you've got and like. I bought my 1990 bike new and it's like a trusty ole axe - lots of changes over the years, including a sweet S&S 107", DD6, Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes front and rear, plus a repaint. You get the idea! Swap to an S&S 124" - that'll shut 'em up.....
my 85 that i bought new. it has well over 100,000 miles on it. it isn't going to be replaced any time soon.....at least i don't think it will be. it uses some oil but it runs so nice, i'm afraid to do anything to it.

I had an '85 myself! One bike I wish I'd kept. Last time I saw it was two years ago and the guy I sold it to said it was still running great!
Ya know what? If a newer bike did the things that I deem important in a motorcycle better than an older one...I'd buy one. Do I give a rip about an Infotainment Center? No. Will a newer bike cruise at the speed I want to cruise at any better than my older one? Nope. Do I give even one red rip about what anybody else thinks? Absolutely not.
There was a time when a man or woman riding one of these big bikes was an individualist! Get back to that, OP, and the hell with your 'buddies'. You're just fine, here!
Who gives a crap about what others think? If you are happy with your bike, that is what counts. Hell, my daily driver is a 28 Model A, a lot upgraded but still...
I'm in the same boat with my 07 which I've owned since new and have it set up just how I like it. I also have a buddy that has had 6 bikes in half the time. He's constantly ragging on me for riding an antique. I keep encouraging him to buy new as he has to have warranty because he has no tools or garage. .He's on a 2018 Limited now. Ive ridden all of his bikes and I don't see why I would trade my bike and 30 k to get his. To each their own.
Different strokes for everyone, I don't ride, or buy anything for myself to please anyone else. Keeping the 07, or buying new, no matter , as long as YOU are enjoying it,
